Troubleshooting - Native Mobile App - Set and Clear Default Apps

If you have multiple apps on your phone that are used for the same purpose, you can pick which app to use by default. For example, if you have multiple internet browsers installed, you can choose which browser to use.

Note: This instruction is only applicable for devices running on Android 9 and iOS 14 and later.

Android

To set default apps

  • Go to Settings.

  • Tap Apps & notifications.

  • Tap Default apps.

  • Tap the default that you want to change.

Note: In this instruction, we will be selecting the default apps for the browser app.

  • Tap the app that you want to use by default.

  • Once you are done, tap <- to see that the app that you selected has been set as a default app.

To clear default apps

  • Go to Settings.

  • Tap Apps & notifications.

  • Tap See all apps.

  • Tap the app that you no longer want to be the default.

  • Tap Advanced > Open by default > Clear Defaults

Note: If you don’t know which app that is being set as the default, go to Settings > Apps & notifications > Default apps.

 

iPhone

To set default apps

iOS does not offer the ability to clear the default apps. To set the default apps, please follow the steps below:

  • Go to Settings.

  • In the search bar, type any app that you want to use as the default apps.

Note: In this step, we will be selecting Chrome as the new default app.

  • Tap Chrome.

  • Tap Default Browser App.

  • Tap Chrome.

  • Once you are done, tap < Chrome to see that the default browser app has been replaced with the new one.
